Admissions

We recognise that choosing a school for your child is a very important decision. That is why we welcome parents to come and look around the school and meet the Head teacher, staff and other children that come to our school. It will enable you to feel what a vibrant, friendly school Byker Primary is.

To apply for a place at our school, you need to contact Newcastle Civic Centre and inform them that you are wanting to choose our school (see the links to forms below).

Our office staff will be happy to answer any questions or arrange a tour of the school with the Headteacher.

You can arrange a visit via our contacts page or by telephone on (0191) 265 6906.

Choosing a Secondary School is a big decision for any parent. We have several Secondary schools that children from our school traditionally attend, although Parents are free to choose any secondary school they wish.

It is advisable to contact these schools to find out when open evenings are to see for yourself. Parents often like to see these when their children reach year 6, but it is fine to attend these meetings the year before.

Parents of Year 6 children receive an application form www.newcastle.gov.uk/admissions early in that Autumn Term. The deadline for applying for places at Secondary Schools is usually just before the end of October.

Parents are welcome to seek advice from us on completing the form and in many cases we will sit down and go through the process with you, before November. Although we are happy to help with any aspect of your child's transfer to Secondary School.
