Welcome from the Headteacher

Byker Primary School is a welcoming, friendly school set inside the Byker wall, in the East end of Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
Children from a range of different cultures and backgrounds are encouraged to do their best and aim high. The school strives to provide a varied and creative approach to learning, where children learn to express themselves and have fun!

Our dedicated team of staff share high expectations for our children to achieve to the best of their abilities, both within the classroom and beyond. We create a love of learning by challenging every child with an ambitious, broad and balanced curriculum brought to life by inspiring and innovative teaching and delivered with a passion for teaching and learning.  All learners are supported in their journey through school within a happy, stimulating and inclusive environment.

We are a restorative practice school which underpins our behaviour management, encouraging all children to take responsibility for their learning and behaviour.  All adults in school have high expectations of our children in both their behaviour and learning.  We pride ourselves on the caring ethos that is embedded within our school. Our school is a School Of Sanctuary.  Please read more about what this means in the link provided.https://schools.cityofsanctuary.org/

We showcase all the extracurricular activities our pupils get up to inside and outside of school, in our monthly newsletters, blog site, and via our Twitter feed, you can find links to these on our homepage.  Our school library is available online with a wide variety of resources, including e-books for all ages to read at home.

There is a free morning club for children in reception and years 1 – 6 for working parents, starting at 8:00am-8:45am. After school, we offer a range of free clubs for years 1 – 6 which are always popular and school participates in a wide range of sporting activities and competitions.

You can find out more about our curriculum, enrichment opportunities and after-school activities by browsing through our website. We hope that you can find the information you require on our website, but if not, please contact us via email at: office@bykerprimary.co.uk

As well as keeping our website up to date, we continue to ensure parents are informed of upcoming events and important information via parents' mail.  If you have not already signed up for this, then please ask our school office staff to support you.
